In 2012, we had 88 volunteers. 
 
In 2013, we had 170 volunteers.
 
In 2014, we blew our expectations out of the water with 360 volunteers!
 
In 2015….. 500?!?!!!!! 
 

Maybe, with your help! 

 

The BIG Event is a day of service each March that gives Southwestern University students, faculty, staff, & alumni the opportunity to spend a day volunteering with local nonprofits and community partners. It is organized by Sustain and sponsored by local businesses.

 

The BIG Event aims to engage with the Georgetown community that surrounds and supports our university students.  The intent is three-fold:

  1. To raise awareness about a variety of social, political, and economic issues in Georgetown
  2. To strengthen partnerships
  3. To empower students to engage with their community 
 

 While The BIG Event is only a single day, we hope that it will support the development of a more sustained and active relationship between Georgetown and the SU campus. 

 

The BIG Event is brought to you by Southwestern University and Students for Sustained Civic Engagement.
