SU
SING! Competition
Winners!
We don't have a football team, but Homecoming
weekend at Southwestern is full of food, free music, and sporting events.
The highlight of SU Homecoming is the SING competition, where members
of campus organizations strut their theatrical talents on the stage of
Alma Thomas Theatre. Student groups entertain the crowd with SU-specific
lyrics to familiar songs, creative choreography, and equal parts of gentle
poking and biting satire directed at our much beloved Southwestern University
traditions. In past years Zeta Tau Alpha has stolen the show with their
award winning performances. Each year ZTA sisters gather their talent,
use team-work, and showcase their beautiful voices to capture SING glory.

2004 Misadventures in Southwesterland with Michael
Jackson, 1st place

Scholarship
The women of the Lambda chapter hold a higher cumulative
GPA than the independent women at Southwestern University.
Because scholarship is such an important part of our chapter,
there are many programs we work on throughout the year. Our biggest program
is the Scholarship Banquet. We celebrate our academic success with a chapter
dinner and an awards presentation. This gives us the opportunity to honor
our sisters who have made the Dean’s List and also those who have
improved tremendously in their academics over the year.
Our Study Break during Finals Week enables sisters to
come together and relax for a few minutes in the midst of a stressful
week. A Scholastic Directory that includes each member’s name, major
field of study and phone number is given to each member so that she can
easily access help from her sisters in any academic field. Finally, Berry
Bucks motivate our members to get A’s on tests and projects in their
classes. Each time a member gets an A, she gets “Berry Bucks”
that will allow her to “buy” prizes at the end of each month.
Our scholarship programs give us an opportunity to show off the academic
successes of our sisters and reward them for working so hard.
