Since the brackets were off this year with odd numbers of teams participating, Southwestern needed to pick up an extra game while at the tournament. The hosts, Texas A&M, decided to play a crossover game against the Bucs on Saturday afternoon.

The Bucs, after being a little rusty in the early game, were not sure what to expect, especially against a team as loaded with talent and history as the Aggies.

The game started out and the Bucs knew they could play with the Aggies. In fact, The Bucs scored two in the first half, only allowing A&M to score with 45 seconds left on a failed clear to bring the score to 2-1 at halftime. Wersonske from Webb on a fast break started the scoring and Webb unassisted was our second.

As the second started, a miscue on defense allowed the Aggies to tie the game up, before Southwestern went on a two goal run again to take a 4-2 lead with about 16 minutes left in the game.

From there, the Aggies, started making some great outside shots and finally took the lead with about 7 minutes left in the game. The Bucs had a chance to tie the game on a couple of opportunities but threw the ball away. The Aggies were able to hold possession for the final 3 minutes of the game.

The game was a great confidence booster for the guys, and probably was much more than the Aggies were expecting. It was a game the Bucs, given the day, could have easily won.

Jones, Cole, Nelson, and Brown all had standout games, as did Daulton and Thompson. Wersonske and Webb again played up to their potential and our expectations.

It was also great to see two former Bucs playing for the Aggies this Fall in Eric Stein and Nick Scaljon.

Bucs defeat St. Ed's for first Tournament Championship in over 11 years.

On Sunday, after Daylight Savings Time allowed the guys to sleep and extra hour, the Bucs played St. Ed's for the final. St. Ed's won the tournament last year, defeating the Bucs in the semi's.

The Bucs came out and immediately took charge with 2 goals right off the bat. One from Jones on a rocket shot and another from Webb, who turned out a great day with 5 goals and ended up getting the tournament MVP.

The Bucs added one more before allowing a goal on a failed clear with literally one second left in the half.

The second half saw the Bucs take back the momentum almost immediately as Lockwood was able to secure a rebound and place it in the back of the net. This goal was huge, as shortly after, and on a man up on the goalie, the Bucs were able to score again and never look back.

The game ended up with a final of 8-2 in favor of the Bucs, and all the players dressed made it into the game.

Afterwards, the Bucs once again went to Heath Thompson's parents house in Bryan for some unbelievable Gumbo and burgers. This was a great way to end the best tournament showing for the Bucs in quite a long time.

This next weekend we will host the old, slow, and once great alumni. Just kidding guys. We can't wait to see who all comes back.
