Rice Dominates SU

Rice travelled to Southwestern on Saturday for the Bucs' first home game of the season and left with a convincing 15-2 win.

After the game a week before against Tech on the road, SU figured to be in better shape at home with a couple of extra bodies. Rice came out and controlled the game from the very beginning, however.

Everything that went SU's way last week went against us on Saturday. Numerous penalties, including a stretch of almost 8 minutes in the fourth quarter in which we were man down, being out-hustled to ground balls, and a line up change because of an injury to Gainey on Friday, all contributed to Rice's dominance from start to finish.

This following week is our toughest of the year as we host Oakland University on Friday night, and then travel up to TCU and UNT on Saturday and Sunday. With a small team to field, we will have to play with better composure, have better ball control, and do a better job at clearing.

These are games SU can win before heading back home for a couple of weeks.

Harrison scored one goal off a fast break, and Jim Andrews notched his first of the year on a man up.

Adam Meltzer playing in his first game ever, filled in admirably at defense, as well as newcomers Kijan Hong and Matt Beermacher. Hopefully the injuries will be healed and we can play like we did against Tech this weekend.

Thanks to all the fans who came out and supported the Bucs against Rice.v
