Southwestern Bounces back from Overtime Loss with Victory over St. Ed's

JAN 28, 2001 - Southwestern made the 30 minute trek down into Austin on Super Bowl Sunday to play St. Edward's University, and came away with a 17-3 win. Seven players scored, including freshman lacrosse newcomer Jim Andrews. All attack men played a great game adding at least one goal and assist each.

John Jenkins notched his second "trash" goal in as many games. Coincidentally, both were the first SU score of each game. David Coleman received the game ball for his outstanding defensive play, although all long sticks played exceptionally well .

Kai Stratman, Jamin Welch and Pete Banzhaf all added scores to the mix, while sophomore, Matt Siekielski added a great assist that helped to break the game open in the second quarter.

Each time the team steps on the field, the team is getting more familiar with each other and improving dramatically. Southwestern hosts LSU-Shreveport next Saturday. SU beat LSU-Shreveport 22-4 in Shreveport last year.

Sunday brings Texas Tech to campus, where Southwestern hopes to avenge two blowout losses over the past two years.
