Bucs Dominate LSA Post-Season Awards [5/21/05] - In addition to numerous team awards in LSA Division B, Southwestern players captured Most Valuable Player (MVP) LSA Div. B (Matt Gainey), Offensive Player of the Year (Matt Gainey), Co-Rookie of the Year (Jacob Dickson), Co-Coach of the Year (Bill Bowman) and three All-Americans (Matt Gainey, Frank Makal, Alex Gette).
Southwestern finishes season and tournament with strong showing [5/13/05] - On day 2 of the national tournament, the Bucs had much to be thankful for. The weather was much nicer, and the Bucs knew they were playing their last game of the season regardless of the outcome. Three seniors, Matt Gainey, Dave Winter, and Frank Makal, all suited up for the last time in their careers, and the team knew it could play against the #5 team in the nation in St. John's (MN).
Southwestern as cold as the weather against #1 San Diego [5/12/05] - In the first ever Div. B National tournament, Southwestern drew #1
in the nation San Diego in the first round. While every player
who made the commitment to make the trip was extremely excited to
be at nationals, they knew they were going up against a tough
opponent in San Diego.
Bucs Climb To #14 In Last Regular Season Poll [5/2/05] - The last MDIA Division B regular season poll is out and SU Lacrosse has moved up 8 spots to #14 in the nation. #14 Southwestern knocked off Texas-Arlington by two goals to earn the Lone Star Alliance Division B crown on Sunday at Waco, Texas. The Bucs finished the regular season with a 12-2 record.
Minnesota Bound! SU Lacrosse Team Captures Conference Championship [5/1/05] - Every once in a while people are part of something special. The Bucs in '05 fit that bill. Picked 3rd in the LSA Pre-season poll behind both UTA and Trinity, and coming off a first round loss in the playoffs last year, the Bucs had quite a few unknowns in September.
SU Storms into LSA Finals with 13-5 win over St. Ed's [4/30/05] - On the last day of April, 2005, the last thing the Bucs had on their mind was finishing their cinderella season and going home. The Bucs had worked hard all year, going undefeated in conference play to earn the first seed and a match-up against underrated St. Ed's in the first round of the playoffs.
National Poll News [4/22/05] - After a hiatus from the national Div. B poll for over a month, Southwestern has made a strong move back into the national rankings in the current poll released Thursday, April 21st, at #22
in the nation.
Undefeated!!! [4/15/05] - FACT: Southwestern has played every team in LSA Div. B that started the season - all 10 of them, save two forfeits and finished 9-0.
Spring Is In the Air [4/9/05] - It is the time of the year where the lacrosse season either starts winding down, or starts to get real interesting. Seniors start getting nostalgic, playing their last home games ever, the sun comes out and warms everyone up, and the playoffs are in the air.
SU makes the playoffs for the second year in a row!! [4/3/05] - After a convincing win on Saturday against the Trinity Tigers, the Bucs woke up an hour early to host division opponent UTD with a spot in the playoffs on the line for the Bucs.
SU drops Tigers in convincing win!! [4/2/05] - On Saturday, April 2nd, and after a long almost month hiatus from lacrosse, the SU lacrosse team hosted arch rival Trinity in a match-up that could be a prelude to a meeting in the playoffs.
SU lets upset slip through its hands [3/5/05] - On Saturday, the Bucs hosted TSU, a Div. A team headed for the playoffs, and one that has continually improved under coach Campbell over the past couple of years.
Bucs remain undeafeted in conference play! [2/19/05] - In front of the largest crowd of the year for Parent's Weekend, The Southwestern Lacrosse team moved to 5-1 and remained undefeated in conference play, beating the Austin College Kangaroos 21-4.
SU gets elusive win against strong NSU team [2/13/05] - The Bucs moved to 4-1 on Sunday, and remained undefeated in LSA Div. B play with a solid 14-6 win against a tired NSU team which had played two games the day before, the last one ending at 11:30 the night before.
Southwestern suffers first loss of the season [2/12/05] - The Bucs travelled up to Arlington on Saturday for the first ever NORTEX Tourney, in which teams from many of the different conferences in the nation made the trip to see how they matched up against those of us in the LSA.
SU moves to 3-0 in convincing 14-0 win over TCU [2/6/05] - After a solid win on Saturday against a tough SFA team, SU suited up again on Sunday to host TCU, a Div. A team playing down in Div. B this year after a brief two year hiatus.
Southwestern wins first conference game of year against SFA [2/5/05] - On Saturday, Feb. 5th, SU hosted the SFA Lumberjacks in front of another large crowd. SFA came into the game in the lead in the northern division of LSA Div. B after impressive wins the previous weekend over conference opponent TCU and southern conference opponent UTSA.
Southwestern opens '05 season with convincing win over Rice [1/29/05] -
Southwestern opened the 2005 season with a convincing win against Division A Rice, with a final score of 10-5. SU had not played Rice over the past three years and the previous three before that, SU had come out on the losing end.
