SOUTHWESTERN WINS THE DIV. B OF THE 27TH A&M FALL CLASSIC (10/29/06)
Southwestern travelled down to A&M on Saturday for the Annual Fall
Classic. The weather was beautiful and the starting time was even
better - noon.
The Bucs played the UTA Mavericks in the first round. In
Fall Tournaments, there are no eligibility checks, and no roster
confirmations. UTA, the scheduled opponent picked up a few guys
from the LSU team to play with them.
Dreamcrusher McDonough was in goal and completed the shutout to
end the game 7-0. All 29 players that were dressed made it in the
game. Jake played solid at LSM, and Pritchett handled the attack
nicely. The middies were able to control ground balls and all the
long poles were able to play extended minutes, as Cole, nursing a
sore knee, rested most of the game. Brown and Thompson, as well as
Daulton all showed the depth of the middie line this year. This
should be one of our biggest strengths.
There was quite a bit of rustiness from all positions, but overall
the Bucs were able to control the game on both ends, allowing only
a few shots the entire game, and minimizing penalty time.
Several guys scored, including an unbelievable ESPN highlight one
handed flip from Pritchett in front of the crease. Pritchett had
2 and 1, Webb scored a couple as well. Wersonske, Jones,
Lockwood, Brown, and Daulton all had points as well.
