University EventsZeta Chapter welcomes our lovely alumnae during Homecoming Weekend in the fall. The chapter decorates a float for the parade and hosts an Open Chapter Room event in our suite in the Sharon Lord Caskey Center. In the Spring semester, Zeta Chapter hosts another Open Chapter for Founders Day to honor our Pi members.
In the spring the chapter participates in Southwestern's SING! Various student organizations, Greek or otherwise, create short skits that are interpretations of the event's theme. This past year, the theme was Southwestern Circus!
Every year sisters represent both Alpha Delta Pi and Southwestern University in the City of Georgetown's annual Red Poppy Festival and Parade.
Date party is typically a semi-formal event to which each sister may invite a date. Costumes are always entertaining and the company is superb! In 2010 we had a Mallard Ball themed date party where sisters got to two-step to great country music and enjoy a bonfire and a hayride through the Texas hill country. This past fall we had a '90s Sing Along at Alamo Drafthouse. Sisters and their dates wore themed outfits and danced to some sweet jams!
Spring Formal is known as Black Diamond Ball. This is an opportunity for our chapter to get all dressed up, have a nice meal and dance the night away. Sisters get to enjoy each other's company and have one last ΑΔΠ celebration with the seniors before they graduate.
Fraternity mixers are a fun way for ΑΔΠ sisters to get a chance to know the fraternity men. Every semester ΑΔΠ holds mixers with our campus fraternities;mthere’s always something fun going on! In the past we've held Pi-dye with KA, an '80s prom themed mixer with KΣ, Pi's & Phi's, and a ΠKA cookout.
Sisterhood EventsThroughout the year we participate in planned (and spontaneous) sisterhood events. These include movie nights, pumpkin carving, making crafts, bowling, studying and celebrating birthdays! We have so much fun hanging out with our sisters!
One of our favorite events of the semester is the Chapter Retreat. Planned by our Membership Education Vice President, this weekend is spent at a cheer gym bouncing on the tramplines or camping out for the night at the lake. We stay up late chatting about the semester, snacking on munchies, getting to know each other better, and bonding with our new Alpha class. The Chapter Retreat is a memorable and touching experience for every ΑΔΠ.
Mother’s Tea is an event hosted in the spring that allows the sisters of ΑΔΠ to invite their mothers into our sisterhood. We enjoy refreshments and have a special ceremony to show them what ΑΔΠ is all about. Our sorority even has a special mother’s pin that moms can wear to share in our fellowship.
