Engaging Minds, Transforming Lives

Student Life

Academics are our highest priority, it’s true. But we’re not all about textbooks and research labs. There’s plenty to do outside the classroom! From an annual music festival to renowned lecturers to Opera Theatre; Zumba class to Ultimate Frisbee games to Thursday Chapel; Greek life to varsity athletics to community outreach, there’s something for everyone at Southwestern. Poet and educator Ebony Stewart will lead an open workshop, entitled “Sex, Love, and Above”, at 4:00 pm in Heather Hall (FAC).  A description of the workshop is below.  In addition to this workshop, Ebony will perform her poetry at 8:00 pm in The Cove.

    Sex, Love & Above

Sexuality is complex. As humans engaged in sexual behavior, we explore all the many layers of body image, sexual orientation, reproductive health, genitals, gender roles and identity, relationships, and love and affection. Through discussion and activities, Ms. Stewart’s workshop will allow participants to investigate the stories we tell ourselves about sexuality and about how those stories interfere with how we see and accept others.
