Herman Brown Residence Hall
Herman Brown is mostly a upperclass coed hall that also houses 14 first-year men on the first floor and is located in the Western Complex on the west side
of campus. Herman Brown houses 88 residents and 4 student staff members in two-person rooms with suite-style bathrooms. The hall has laundry
facilities and a study lounge on the first floor. Herman Brown is unique in that it is laid out in an open, apartment style format, which
makes it and its partner building, Moody-Shearn, extremely popular.
The university provides each resident in Herman Brown:
- A standard twin bed with two storage drawers built into the base
- A built-in desk
- A desk chair
- A multi-drawered dresser (shared by the roommates)
- A spacious walk-in closet (shared by the roommates)
- A nightstand shared by the roommates
- A set of bookshelves (shared by the roommates)
Herman Brown Hall, funded by The Brown Foundation, Inc. of Houston, is named for Herman Brown, who served on the University's Board of
Trustees for 20 years.
