Why Alpha Xi Delta?

"Alpha Xi Delta is a place for young women to reflect on where they've been, where they're going, and how they're going to get there. Alpha Xi Delta gives young women opportunities to discover ideas new and old, skills they possess, skills they want to learn, talents waiting to be tapped, and successes to be realized. Alpha Xi Delta makes these experiences possible by funding educational programs and scholarships that help young women pursue their dreams."
The Quill of Alpha Xi Delta

"Alpha Xi Delta has been a home away from home during my years at Southwestern. I have amazing friends who I will continue to be close with long after I leave and it has provided me with opportunities to grow as a leader and a person. I can't imagine my college experience without it."
Rachel Barnes, Theta Lambda 2005

Formal Spring Recruitment and Continuous Open Bidding (COB) are important to the Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta. If you are a potential member thinking about joining a chapter, we hope you find this website helpful. Be sure to contact your Panhellenic Delegate if you have any questions or wish to sign up for Recruitment.

Formal Recruitment
Each spring, Panhellenic Council sponsors a recruitment process, usually held the first weekend of the spring semester. Registration for this process usually ends the last week of the fall semester. The three-day process begins with the potential new member attending all four chapters’ parties, where a slideshow is usually shown. The second round of Recruitment is skit night. Here potential members get to see the fun side of Greek Life! The weekend concludes with Preference Party, where the potential new members sees the serious and sincere side of being in a chapter. Bid Night follows!

If you are interested in trying out COB or have further questions, please email our Membership Vice President or contact your Panhellenic Delegate.

Continuous Open Bidding
Continuous Open Bidding is much less structured than formal recruitment. The purpose of COB is to let women see what Alpha Xi Delta is all about. To do this, we include you in activities that the chapter or chapter members are already doing. For example, a potential COB candidate will be welcomed by the sisters to attend events such as dinners, parties, and other activities. COB begins immediately after formal recruitment, and can continue throughout the year.

You are eligible to receive a continuous open bid if:

The Role of Panhellenic Council
The recruitment process can be confusing, but it is held together by rules and agreements between on parties involved. Panhellenic Delegates (two from each chapter) are charged with ensuring that potential new members are supported throughout the process. Our chapter encourages all women, including first year and independent women, to attend all Panhellenic-sponsored events (held throughout the year) and to adhere to standards set by the Southwestern as well as National Panhellenic Council. If you have any questions or concerns about Greek Life, Panhellenic rules, or anything related to Greek Life, our chapter encourages you to speak your Panhellenic Delegate.
