Recruitment can be an overwhelming and confusing experience.  With so many things to do and people to meet it can seem that everyone is pulling you in different directions.  With so much pressure it can be difficult to see what the best decision is for you and it can be easy to give in to the expectations that others set for you.  This is just what Panhellenic is here for, to help you through the process of recruitment and to ensure that everything goes smoothly and that no rules are broken. 

The women of Panhellenic are Greek women themselves, there are two delegates from each sorority on campus, and so they know what you are going through.  As Panhellenic delegates they disassociate themselves from their respective sororities so that you might have an unbiased source to go to for help and advice.  So do not be afraid to approach them with questions and problems, that is what they are there for!

Southwestern practices deferred recruitment, meaning that we hold our formal recruitment weekend in January rather than August like most schools.  The benefit of this is that it allows first year and independent women to take their time getting to know the women of each sorority by attending the number of informal recruitment events that are held throughout the fall semester.  Be sure to give every sorority a chance, just because you like one, doesn’t mean that you won’t like another one more.  So remember to keep an open mind, go to more than one recruitment event per sorority, be yourself, and remember that Panhellenic will always be there for you!

Deadline to sign up for Formal Recruitment:  last day of classes in the fall (Dec. 8th)

Dates for Formal Recruitment:  January 18th -20th (Thursday - Saturday)
