Mission:  to coordinate and provide outreach/awareness
                progams which promote understanding among the campus
                community.  It is commmitted to encouraging the awareness and
                respect for diversity on the Southwestern University campus. 
                By providing a variety of programs and workshops, the office
                hopes to facilitate dialogue between students from different
                social and cultural backgrounds.  This is accomplished by
                providing students with the proactive education experiences
                which promote open discussion of social justice issues.  By
                providing a variety of programs, workshops, and discussion
                opportunities, the office hopes to help create a true campus
                community consisting of respect, inclusivity, and commitment to
                understanding others' perspectives.

                The coordinator of diversity education is also available to :

                   * Listen to individual student concerns and work with them on
                       a one-to-one basis
                    *Act as a referral agent
                    *Encourage the pursuit of academic excellence and
                       involvement in co-curricular activities
                    *Serve as an advocate and support network for students of
                      color as well as majority students
