Ten Minute Time Savers
These activities will not take you more than ten minutes to complete, yet will help you better utilize your time.
- Take time to organize your belongings before going to bed. Lay out the books, clothes, and other items you will need for the following day. You’ll avoid wasting time in the morning looking for your keys or that missing shoe.
- Arrive at class early. Use the time to review notes form the previous lecture, or to read your textbook, in preparation for the class.
- Make a daily “To Do List” before you leave in the morning. Prioritize your list using “A’s”, “B’s”, and “C’s”. The “A” items are top priority and must be completed during the day. “B” items are important but could wait until tomorrow if necessary. “C” items are “wish list” items and are only to be tackled when all A and B items have been scratched off your list.
- Hit the pavement! Research has shown that several ten minute brisk walks during the day are equally as good for you as one longer walk. Take advantage of the hike in between classes to get a little exercise.
Use your block of ten minutes to take care of personal business or household chores such as calling the bank, making a doctor’s appointment, paying bills, or folding clothes. Taking time during television commercials is also a great time to tackle these projects.
