Friends of the Sarofim School of Fine Arts
The Sarofim School of Fine Arts exists to teach Southwestern students the full spectrum of the fine arts. Every performance, recital, exhibit, and lecture represents a teaching moment as the Sarofim School prepares students to become contributors to society, whether as professionals in the fine arts or as knowledgeable citizens versed in the arts.
To ensure that Southwestern can continue providing the broadest experiences for learning and teaching the fine arts, Southwestern established the Friends of the Sarofim School of Fine Arts.
Membership Benefits
Membership in the Friends of the Sarofim School of Fine Arts includes four events each year – two in the fall and two in the spring. Planned around the Sarofim School of Fine Arts calendar, events might include a musical or theatrical performance, lecture, or exhibit. In addition, "Friends" will enjoy a pre- or post-event social, often in members' homes. Programming will always include a "for members only" fine arts lecture or curtain talk. All members will receive an invitation to Southwestern's annual signature Shilling Lecture. Previous speakers such as Bill Moyers, Jimmy Carter, Desmond Tutu, Benazir Bhutto and Bill Bradley have brought messages related to ethics, public service, and public policy. Membership at the $1,000 level and above includes an invitation to Southwestern's President's Appreciation Dinner hosted by President and Mrs. Jake B. Schrum. Contributions of $2,500 or greater will include special events at the invitation of the Dean of Fine Arts.
