Peace Conference
Peace Conference 2006 was inspired
by Southwestern students. The Conference brought together persons of
many faiths and perspectives to discuss ways people of faith can work
together in their work for Peace. Arun Gandhi, M.K. Gandhi's grandson,
was the keynote speaker for the Conference. The Multi-Faith panel
brought diverse voices to the discussion.

Care Fair
Learn about local volunteer service opportunities at the Care Fair held
each September on the Academic Mall. Area social service agencies
will have representatives on site to answer questions, offer
information and sign ups. This year’s Care Fair was
on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 (11:30am-1:30pm), on the Academic
Mall.
Chapel
Chapel Services are held every Thursday (during the regular semester)
in the Lois Perkins Chapel at 11:00am. These services in the
Christian tradition last around 40 minutes and include music, prayers,
scripture readings and a message. Communion is served once a
month (usually the first Thursday of the month). The services are
open to everyone who would like to attend and participate.
Chapel Planning Committee
This is a group of students interested in learning about and developing
meaningful chapel services for the campus. Meets most Mondays at
6:15pm in the Shilling Room to plan regular and special services.
Covenant/Reunion Groups
Participating in a small group for fellowship and spiritual support can
be fun and very helpful in navigating your college years. Groups
usually meet weekly (times vary) and follow a very simple pattern of
sharing and prayer.
Destination: Service
This is the super and great spring break volunteer service
program. SU students travel to do volunteer service each year
reaching out to help others in urban and rural locations through social
service, light construction and clean up, and educational
programs. Follow this link to the Destination: Service website.
Dinner and Bible Study
Students meet weekly for Bible study and discussion over dinner.
Time and topic are chosen at the beginning of the semester to
accommodate schedules and interests.
Interfaith Dialogue
This eclectic group of students meets to discuss issues of faith,
religion, culture and spirituality and welcomes a diversity of
viewpoints. Students attracted to this group are especially
interested in learning about other people’s perspectives and the
way different religious traditions and cultural groups approach basic
life questions and concerns. Meets most Mondays at 7:30pm in the
Korouva Milkbar.
Pre-Ministry Student Group
Students who are considering full-time ministry as a career gather once
or twice a semester to share their thoughts about how and where they
feel God might be leading them. Interested students also
learn about steps to ordination in their denomination, meet with
seminary representatives and find out about opportunities for
internships and summer ministry employment.
