Sam Taylor Fellowships - The Sam Taylor Fellowships were established for the continuing education and development of faculty members of United Methodist colleges and universities in Texas. Grants may be used for graduate study or post-graduate research. Recipients of the fellowships are expected to submit programs that will "contribute to the improvement of the quality of intellectual, community, or religious life of the state of Texas and the nation." Deadline for 2004-05 is August 27, 2004.
Sam Taylor Fellowships need to be turned in to the Associate Provost, Stephanie Fabritius, MBH 110 by Friday, August 27, 2004.
Sam Taylor Fellowships are available for any full-time faculty member of a United Methodist institution of higher learning. A fellowship may be granted for: tuition fees, housing, and expenses incurred in academic work leading to a graduate degree or significant post-graduate study; or for expenses incurred in researching or writing a thesis for a terminal degree; or for expenses incurred in a research project which advances the intellectual, social or religious life of Texas and the nation. Proposals need to include: a one page vita (which includes your name and address, institution and instructional area, years employed, tenure status, degrees earned, major publications); a one-page description of the project (including details of the educational or research plans, progress already achieved, the role of the project in the applicant's professional goals; and a budget projecting the total costs of the project and indicating any other source of funds.
After an internal screening, we will send off the selected proposals, including letters of recommendation and endorsement from the Provost and President, in time to meet the September 1 deadline. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Fabritius (x1620).
