*SOUTHWESTERN TO HOST ALDERSGATE DAY CELEBRATION MAY 24*

Southwestern will host its second annual Aldersgate Day celebration on
Wednesday, May 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Lois Perkins Chapel.

The event observes the 268^th anniversary of John Wesley's
"heart-warming" experience.
Wesley, the founder of Methodism, attended a meeting at a church on
Aldersgate Street in London on May 24, 1738. There he felt his heart
"strangely warmed," signifying his trust in Christ alone for salvation,
the basis of the Methodist faith. The first Methodist Society was formed
in 1740.

Coordinated by Southwestern alumnus Henry Holloway, the program will
include singing of Wesley hymns and presentations by Southwestern
faculty members and alumni.

The event is open to the public. For more information, call 800-960-6363.
