I intended to kill it, but instead sent it on. On Thursday, I will have the exam ready and it will be due Tuesday, November 21 at noon. On Tuesday, Nov. 21 we will start Chapter 12 (Monopoly). See you Tuesday, Dirk p.s. How did the outside class go? If the room is still smelly, I might suggest we do the same on Tuesday. Please let me know if you are not learning as well outside. -- Dirk Early Professor of Economics Department of Economics and Business Southwestern University Georgetown, TX 78626 earlyd@southwestern.edu 512-863-1592 (phone) 512-863-1535 (fax) From earlyd at southwestern.edu Fri Nov 10 09:47:06 2006 From: earlyd at southwestern.edu (Dirk Early) Date: Fri Nov 10 09:47:06 2006 Subject: [Su-eco-223] Tuesday Message-ID: <45549EFA.8030000@southwestern.edu> Micro Friends, On Tuesday we will go over an example similar to question 3 on the problem set. My plan is to cover the final material for chapter 11 (perfect competition) on Tuesday, answer any questions you have then allow you time to work on the problem set. The problem set will be due at the END of class on Tuesday. See you then, Dirk -- Dirk Early Professor of Economics Department of Economics and Business Southwestern University Georgetown, TX 78626 earlyd@southwestern.edu 512-863-1592 (phone) 512-863-1535 (fax) From earlyd at southwestern.edu Wed Nov 15 10:33:23 2006 From: earlyd at southwestern.edu (Dirk Early) Date: Wed Nov 15 10:33:23 2006 Subject: [Su-eco-223] End of Chapter Questions and Review sheet questions. Message-ID: <455B4153.6000307@southwestern.edu> Micro People, I made an error when going over question 8 from the review sheet. It is true that the optimal mix of capital and labor is given by L = 4K. The next step is to plug L = 4K into the production function and set = 100. 100 = 10 K^(1/2) (4K)^(1/2) 100 = 10 K^(1/2) 4^(1/2) K^(1/2) since 4^(1/2) = 2 (This is the step I missed) 100 = 10 K^(1/2) 2 K^(1/2) 100 = 20 K^(1/2) K^(1/2) 100 = 20 K 5 = K Therefore, L = 20. Sorry if I confused anyone. Also, I added the end of questions problems I think are good on the web site. The questions that were listed under chapter 11 were from an older version of the text. Please use the new numbers. Instead, I'll be in my office holding office hours. My Money and Banking students have a project due early next week and will probably start showing up during my 2:30 office hours. If possible, please try to see me during the 1:00-2:15 time. I will also be available on Friday if needed.
