EMPLOYMENT IN THE DEWC, 2014-2015
The Debby Ellis Writing Center is recruiting consultants (i.e. tutors) for the next academic year, and we are now accepting applications for 2014-2015 until March 1, 2014.
DEWC consultants work one-on-one with Southwestern students, offering feedback and support at all stages of the writing process. After successful completion of training and interning, consultants work one or two shifts a week in the DEWC or Smith Library Center. They attend bi-monthly professional development meetings, and they assist with center outreach and peer mentoring. After one year in the DEWC, interested consultants may apply for leadership positions. Students who have not visited the DEWC in the past are strongly encouraged to bring a piece of writing into the center for a consultation before they apply.
We welcome applications from current Southwestern students from all major divisions and schools.
Southwestern University is committed to fostering a diverse educational environment and encourages applications from members of groups traditionally under-represented in academia.
After applications have been reviewed and interviews have been conducted, newly hired consultants will undergo a training and internship program beginning after spring break. For more information about tutoring in the DEWC, please contact Dr. Carina Evans, Interim Faculty Co-Director.
