Friday Night Live presents Austin-based indie folk band Wild Child this Friday at 8pm in The Cove. Friday Night Live presents an evening of Improv Comedy featuring Austin-based improv troupe The New Movement. Members of The New Movement have traveled all across the country teaching and performing improv, and their show is guaranteed to be unique. Improv is spontaneous, entertaining and audience participation is always encouraged! This is a show you don’t want to miss! “Wildly Talented and Relentlessly Inventive” – The Austin Chronicle. Friday Night Live Presents comedian Ahmed Ahmed this Friday at 8pm in The Cove! Mr. Ahmed can be seen in such films and television shows as Iron Man, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Axis of Evil Comedy Tour, Swingers, Tracey Takes On, Roseanne, JAG, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn on Comedy Central, and MTV’s PUNK’D. He has also appeared on CNN, The View, and NPR, and was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal in December of 2001. Recently, he can be seen in the film City of Life, the first feature film to be shot entirely in Dubai, U.A.E., which premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival in 2009. He was the recipient of the first annual Richard Pryor Award for Ethnic Comedy at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland. This is a show you don’t want to miss!

Friday Night Live Presents extreme juggler Mad Chad this Friday at 8pm in The Bishops Lounge! Put on your safety goggles and move back four rows, because here’s Mad Chad Taylor, the Evel Knievel of Comedy. This Guinness World Record holder has cut it up on every imaginable variety show, from “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” to “Last Call with Carson Daily.” Mad Chad’s so unforgettable Sam Raimi gave him a part in “Spider-Man III.” He’s so good he taught Dustin Hoffman to juggle and he’s so powerful not even three running chainsaws can stop him. Whether he’s performing his hilarious 60-minute show to sold-out crowds at performing arts centers or imploring boisterous college audiences to throw knives responsibly, Mad Chad Taylor may be the most dangerous man in comedy, particularly if you sit too close. Then again, those tend to be the really expensive seats. “Because,” Mad Chad says, “if you really want people to put two hands together, you gotta be willing to risk one of your own!” This will be a show that you will not want to miss!
Friday Night Live brings one of fastest rising comedians to The Cove this Friday at 8pm. Carmen made it to the semi-finals of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, has been featured on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and performed on HBO’s Comedy Arts Festival in Austin. She also performs on SiTV’s Latino Laugh Festival, toured as one of the Latinas of Comedy with Paul Rodriguez, and contributed to MAD Magazine. Recently, Carmen was chosen as one of the “Hot Comics of 2010” by Campus Activities Magazine. You don’t want to miss this hilarious show.
Friday Night Live Presents illusionist and mentalist Christopher Carter this Friday at 8pm in The Cove! As an entertainer, Christopher has earned feature appearances on The Martin Short Show, and the Donny and Marie Show. Long one of the most popular performers on college campuses, Christopher has been awarded the highest honor in the Campus Activities industry: Entertainer of the Year in 2005. As a business speaker and corporate entertainer, Christopher has created custom motivational presentations for some of the nation’s top corporate groups, including Sprint PCS, Harley-Davidson, Bristol Myers Squibb, Phillips Electric, Wells Fargo, The Million Dollar Round Table, and many more. This will be a mind-boggling show that you must see!

Eliot Chang’s “Comedy Central Presents” half hour special was voted #2 in Comedy Central’s Stand Up Showdown 2011. Other TV appearances include E!’s “Chelsea Lately,” Showtime’s “Minority Report,” and Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend.” Every year Eliot tours America for 8 months and has performed at over 400 colleges. Born and raised in NY, he moved to Los Angeles in 2007 and travels regularly between both coasts for projects. Friday Night Live Presents poet George Watsky this Friday at 8pm in The Cove! George Watsky is a writer and performer who believes in the equal power of the tear and the belly laugh. Born and raised in San Francisco and now based in Los Angeles, he aims to cross-pollinate the stage, screen and stereo with work that speaks to both the humor and frustrations of modern life. George was featured on Season 6 of Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry on HBO. He was the 2006 Youth Speaks Grand Slam Poetry Champion, 2006 Brave New Voices International Poetry Slam Champion, and performed in a record six consecutive Youth Speaks Grand Slam Finals. The last three of those audiences, all topping out at over 3,000, were the largest ever for poetry slams anywhere in the world. In 2009 Watsky was one of three poets who performed live on FOX at the NAACP Image Awards in honor of Russell Simmons’ lifetime achievement award, and in 2011 he performed live as a guest on the Ellen Degeneres Show on two separate occasions.

Friday Night Live presents hypnotist Chris Jones. Stick around after the women’s and men’s basketball games against Centre College to witness a truly interactive hypnosis experience. Members of the audience will be the stars of the show, as Chris will pick a group of volunteers to be hypnotized! This is a show you do not want to miss!
Fresh from The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, HBO’s Aspen Comedy Festival and Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival, Michelle Buteau is one smokin’ hot comedienne you don’t want to miss. She has been seen all over TV recently including the last season of Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, VH1’s Best Week Ever and Black to the Future, MTV’s Walk of Shame, among many others. Michelle has an international following, with regular performances all over Europe. Project Dynamite’s unique performances have quickly established them as, “the show unlike any other”. Their astonishing stunts and comedic juggling are both interactive and hilarious. Friday Night Live welcomes to the stage British-born, Jamaican, NY raised, and now LA-based comedian and writer, Ian Edwards. He has been seen performing on Live at Gotham, Def Comedy Jam, Comic View, HBO’s Bad Boys of Comedy, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, MTV’s Punk’d and BBC’s The World Stand Up. He has also written for Saturday Night Live, MTV’s The Lyricist Show, The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show, Cartoon Network’s Boondocks, among others.
Whether she’s belting an old Spanish romantic song or ripping up funky blues inspired riffs, Gaby Moreno is on the rise. Winner of the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, “Maxell Song of the Year” via “Escondidos” helped garner exposure and was a huge step in the right direction. Her pace has quickened since, with songs like the irresistibly funky “Greenhorne Man” being featured by television shows such as ABC’s “Lincoln Heights” and “Ghost Whisperer” and MTV’s “The Hills.” She also wrote the theme song for NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” which is now a staple in scores of households across the nation.
Big Poppa E writes and performs poetry. He is a three-time veteran of HBO’s Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry and is a National Poetry Slam Champion. His live performances combine poetry, stand-up comedy, and dramatic monologue in high-energy rants about relationships, pop culture, and hot button issues of the day. He often works with the human rights organization Amnesty International and the campus organization Men Against Violence, and has hosted numerous politically-themed poetry slam events and workshops at regional and national Amnesty International conferences across the U.S. He has also been featured at events championing women’s issues and sexual assault awareness.
Sabrina Jalees is a comedienne and actor based in New York City. Since stepping onto the stage of (Toronto’s) Yuk Yuk’s amateur night at 16, she’s become one of the most recognizable faces in the Canadian media. Since moving to New York, she’s appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and has been featured on LOGO, MTV and E! She is also the host of CBC Radio’s Laugh Out Loud.
Back by popular demand, Alpa Rev will perform live in the Bishops Lounge on April 8th. Since their performance at Southwestern in 2008, this fast-rising band has gained much popularity. This Austin- based alternative rock band has had songs featured on Bravo’s NYC Prep, ABC’s Greek, and the CW’s Melrose Place. They also wrote and performed The Last Song’s theme song.
Friday Night Live presents outrageous comedian Arvin Mitchell. Arvin was the former bartender and co-host of BET’s ClubComicView and host of Spring Bling 21 Questions. He has also performed at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival and the Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival. Don’t miss out on the last comedian of the semester!
