By virtue of its architectural design and its placement in the center of Southwestern's campus, Lois Perkins Chapel symbolizes the rich tradition of undergraduate education in the United Methodist Church – helping students realize their fullest human potential within an intellectually challenging, nurturing and inclusive community.

Named for Southwestern alumna Lois Perkins, who attended the University from 1908 to 1911, the chapel is built in modern semi-Gothic style. Its impressive stained-glass windows depict leaders of the Protestant Reformation in Europe and American Methodism, as well as seals of the colleges with which those leaders are associated.  There is a wonderful publication giving the history and descriptions of the stained glass in our chapel.  You can access that information by clicking here. 

University worship services are held weekly in Lois Perkins Chapel and special services are held in observance of holy seasons or days. Candlelight Service, a traditional highlight of the year held in December, celebrates the Season of Advent. The event attracts Southwestern students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of surrounding communities.

The chapel is open 7am to midnight during the school semester for prayer and meditation. The adjacent Chapel Lounge and Garden are designed for spiritual reflection and small group discussion.
