SU Buenos Aires Program

Southwestern University in collaboration with Academic Programs International (API) have created a program in Buenos Aires, Argentina specially designed for Southwestern students. The SU Buenos Aires Program is a six-week, eight-credit program for students with a minimum of two years of college-level Spanish.
Students apply to Southwestern, not to API, directly.
Eligibility
Students must have completed the language prerequisite of Spanish IV, or the equivalent, in order to be eligible.

Cost
The tentative cost for this six-week program is $5,575.
There is a $550 application deposit due at the time of application — February 1st — to the Office of Intercultural Learning. Checks should be made out to Southwestern University. Please note: should a student not be accepted to participate in the program or should the program not make, Southwestern will refund the $550 application deposit.
The program fee includes: tuition for eight credits, room and two meals (breakfast and dinner) with the host family, laundry service once a week, airport pick-up and ground transportation to and from the airport as well as all API organized excursions, hotel and breakfast costs during organized excursions, entrance fees during excursions and cultural activities, API resident director, medical insurance, and tutoring sessions. The fee does not include airfare to and from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Students are responsible for their own flight arrangements, lunch and dinner on excursions, transportation within Buenos Aires, internet café expenses, as well as passport and personal expenses (toiletries, activities, snacks, personal travel, etc.)
Courses
During the week, students will attend classes taught by a Southwestern professor as well as a local university professor. Several academic visits related to the content of the courses will be arranged outside of the classroom.

Housing & Meals
While in Buenos Aires, students will live with carefully selected host families who will provide students with two meals per day and laundry service one time per week. Two students will be assigned to each family.
Cultural Activities & Excursions
The program begins with an on-site orientation in Buenos Aires. Students will attend sessions on cultural adaptation, host family living, and safety while also visiting some of Buenos Aires’ most important sites.
