Southwestern University Profile
A small, private, undergraduate, national liberal arts university just north of Austin, Southwestern University is Texas’ oldest institution of higher learning and boasts one of the nation’s most beautiful college campuses. Southwestern enrolls approximately 1,300 students, maintains a student/faculty ratio of 10:1, and offers courses in 48 areas of study. More than 60% of students volunteer on campus or in the community – twice the national average. More than 80% of students participate annually in some form of organized physical activity through at least one of the eleven intercollegiate teams, twenty-two intramural sports, and/or four club sports. Additionally, Southwestern has over 90 student organizations ranging in focus from scholastic and government to special interest and Greek. Of the 275 graduates in the class of 2010, 92% of 274 respondents had either obtained employment or acceptance into a graduate/professional school within ten months of graduation – a reflection of the success of Southwestern and its students.
