  1. What issues in society matter most to me?
  2. What local organizations focus on such issues?
  3. What opportunities are available for volunteers at these organizations?
  4. Do the available volunteer opportunities align with my interests? My schedule? My skills?
  5. How much time am I willing to invest in volunteering?
  6. What support mechanisms are in place at these organizations to ensure that I will have a good experience as a volunteer? (i.e., Is there someone at the volunteer site to train me? To whom I can ask questions? Go to should I have a problem?)
  7. Is transportation an issue for me to get to and from the volunteer site?
  8. What do I want to get out of my volunteer experience?
