A political science major, Tim works as a Service Learning Academy Group Leader for Environmental Corps in Austin through AmeriCorps. He works with high school-aged students to help them earn their GEDs and takes them on conservation projects. Prior to working for AmeriCorps, Tim worked on an organic farm in Slovenia and as an adventure camp counselor for the Austin Nature and Science Center. Stephanie, an International Studies (History) and Spanish major, used her extensive internship experience in the social services area to land a job as Resource Advocate/Life Skills Program Assistant at SafePlace in Austin, via AmeriCorps. Connor, a political science major, is pursuing a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice and Criminology at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. He also credits the internships he pursued with help from internship coordinator Maria Kruger: “They provided me with tremendous insight into the Criminal Justice field enough so to further my education in the field and pursue it as my career.”

Paige, a Latin American Studies and Spanish graduate, spent the summer after graduation interning with the Workers’ Defense Project. She is currently employed as a Program Coordinator at the Capital Area Food Bank in Austin.

A chemistry graduate pursuing her MD at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Temple, TX, Shannon was excited to learn that a research manuscript about chronic low back pain she completed after an internship with a family doctor has been published in Texas Family Physician, a journal of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians.

Mary-Luisa is now Assistant Principal at Harriet Tubman Elementary in New Orleans, LA. A communication studies graduate, Mary-Luisa previously worked as an elementary school teacher in New Orleans through Teach for America.
