Southwestern Welcomes Acclaimed Attorney to Campus

Sarah Weddington, the attorney who presented oral arguments in Roe vs. Wade before the Supreme Court, will speak on "Some Leaders are Born...Women" at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 27, in the Lynda and Marsha Ballrooms of the McCombs Campus Center at Southwestern University. A question and answer session will follow. The event is free and open to the public.

Weddington is a professor at the University of Texas School of Law as well as an author and speaker. She was the youngest attorney to argue a winning case before the Supreme Court, an advisor to President Jimmy Carter and the first woman elected to the Texas House of Representatives.

The lecture is sponsored by Southwestern's Gender Awareness Center and Community Chest.
