Destination: Service is a Spring Break program of service learning trips meant to help bring justice to the world through our service with others.
Eight Southwestern students spent their spring break in 2013 helping a family outside New Orleans whose house had been ruined by a hurricane. They helped replace a floor, stained a deck and even washed the family dog.
Nine Southwestern students spent their 2013 spring break on a service trip to Tucson. They volunteered at a local food bank, met refugees who have been resettled in Tucson by the United Nations Refugee Agency and went on a “Desert Walk” with a group that provides humanitarian assistance to immigrants.
Twenty-five students spent their 2013 spring break in the Gila Wilderness, which is located in southwestern New Mexico. Some members of the group helped the Forest Service do maintenance on the Zig-Zag trail and others helped fix the trail to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. A video about the trip is available here.
