Su-b33salon2 -- Mailing list for conversation among conversants in Salon 2

About Su-b33salon2
English (USA)

Salon 2 of Think -- Converse -- Act centers on intersections and conflicts between education, the arts, and technology in today's world. Many would suggest that while technology is an indispensable component of today's "real world" and education is a useful component of the "real world," the arts are essentially optional / leisure add-ons to that world -- indeed, that they are less necessary than, for example, spectator sports or other recreational activities. Do you agree? Why or why not? And is the same true of both "high art" (such as painting, Classical music, or theater) and "popular art" (comic books, country or rock music, and the movies)?

The above questions are random examples of the issues that emerge once we begin to interrogate these disciplines with an eye to conversation rather than segregation. Make your voice heard!
