Salon 1 of Think -- Converse -- Act is devoted to intersections and conflicts among the arts, sciences, and religions, three areas of human endeavor that sometimes overlap, sometimes conflict, and almost always are kept separate as matters of education and vocation. Yet if "religion" may be defined as "a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices" or "a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith" (Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary), then the arts and sciences are also religions in their own rights. If this is true, is it sensible that in today's world professionals in each of these fields are not equally trained in all three and are often implicitly encouraged to practice one (their own) to the virtual or complete exclusion of the others?
