This mailing list is a creation of the steering committee of the Southwestern University chapter of the American Association of University Professors. It is intended to foster free and open communication among teaching faculty at Southwestern University. In keeping with the spirit of AAUP, therefore, membership is confined to those faculty who are not currently in administrative positions (except department and division chairs). You do not need to be a member of AAUP to subscribe to this list, but we encourage all faculty to consider joining. Suggested topics for this list include, but are by no means confined to, the following: 1) Announcements of meetings and events open to and of particular interest to SU faculty members. 2) Reports of individual faculty and faculty/student accomplishments. 3) Informal reports by individual members of councils and committees on specific meetings (it may be advisable to add a disclaimer to such a report stating that the comments do not represent the official minutes of the meeting, if that is the case). 4) Commentary, questions, and individual opinions on academic and career issues, or any other topic that would be of interest to the general faculty. We hope that this mailing list will provide a format for faculty discussion across all disciplines and departments--a sort of "cyber faculty lounge." To post a message to all the list members, send email to aaup@southwestern.edu. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to aaup
