A Message from the Annual Giving Board Co-Chairs
Over the last year, Southwestern University has increased the number of ways to engage alumni and parents in meaningful roles as, for example, with the creation of the Annual Giving Board. The Board, which we are happy to lead, was established to increase the number of alumni and parent donors while also increasing total annual contributions.
During the heady success of The Brown Challenge from 1976 to 1996, alumni giving participation increased from 13 to 35 percent, thanks to the tremendous matching funds provided by The Brown Foundation Inc. Since that time, annual alumni support of Southwestern has remained steady, ranging from 29 to 34 percent participation, but the Universitys needs have risen.
The Annual Giving Board was created at the recommendation of the Alumni Self-Study Commission with the hope of increasing alumni participation above historical levels in order to meet these greater needs. The Board is comprised of 90 volunteers representing alumni, parents of current and former students, and Southwestern faculty and staff. Together, they are working to inspire more individuals to support the University financially.
When a classmate or a student phonathon caller contacts you this year, we hope that you will make a commitment to Southwestern University, and we hope that you will consider it an annual commitment for years to come.
