Southwestern University invites applications for a part-time temporary English Language Learning (ELL) Specialist for the fall 2014 and spring 2015 semesters. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, this individual will assist international students in the Debby Ellis Writing Center (DEWC), and foster initiatives promoting ELL learning on campus. Additionally, the individual will help train DEWC student consultants, develop ELL resources and materials, and serve as a resource for faculty and staff across campus. It is anticipated that these duties will require 10 hours per week.
The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in ESL, ESOL, Linguistics, or English, will have a minimum of one year teaching experience, and will have a background in ESL/ESOL and/or second language acquisition. Preferred qualifications include ESL certification, experience working with ESL/ESOL students at the college level, familiarity with writing centers/labs, and tutoring experience.
