Students’ Careers Take-Off
Numerous music students compete, perform, and are accepted into pre-professional programs in the U.S. and abroad
Keeley Hooker ’14 has been selected to perform with Opera NEO, a pre-professional summer opera program located in San Diego, California.* She will be singing the role of First Spirit in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. She has also placed in the semi-finals at the South Texas NATS auditions.
Jeffrey McKenzie ’14 has been accepted to the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Institute in Seattle, Washington.*
Abigail Jackson ’15 has been accepted to Lingua e Canto, an Italian language immersion and pre-professional singing program in Sant’Angelo in Vado, Italy.* She was also selected as a preliminary round winner in the 2014 Classical Singer National Vocal Competition and will advance to perform at the Classical Singer National Convention in San Antonio in late May.
Melissa Krueger ’15 was recently featured as a soloist with Ensemble Settecento, a professional baroque orchestra in the Austin area. She sang the role of Narves in Montezuma by Carl Heinrich Graun. She was also accepted into Spotlight on Opera’s program in Austin where she will be singing the role of Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.*
Kevin Bryant ’16 has been accepted at the Mediterranean Opera Studio in Palermo, Italy.*
