Southwestern University invites applications for a twelve-month, full-time, three-year postdoctoral fellowship with benefits, focused on digital scholarship in an interdisciplinary, liberal arts environment. This position will have an emphasis on Media or Communication Studies and is funded by the Mellon Foundation as part of an institutional initiative to cultivate educational innovation and digital scholarship across the university.

The fellow will work as a member of the Research and Digital Scholarship group within Information Services to support digital scholarship initiatives, and will consult with faculty across the disciplines on the application and integration of digital technologies into teaching and scholarship as well as develop and conduct workshops and activities for students and faculty focused on digital competencies.  Responsibilities will include organizing colloquia and other public events related to digital pedagogy and innovative teaching. In addition to working with Southwestern faculty and students, the fellow will be encouraged to connect with the larger digital scholarship community, and will be funded to travel to professional conferences and meetings. The appointed candidate will teach a course within the Communication Studies department each semester.

Requirements:  The appointed fellow will have completed a Ph.D. in Media or Communication Studies (after January 1, 2009, but before beginning the fellowship in July 2014) with an interest in social media, visual storytelling, digital games and simulations, emerging media, digital culture, video production and / or interactive media. The successful candidate will have experience bringing digital tools and methodologies to scholarly interdisciplinary research and to pedagogy.
