Testing the Productivity of a Geodesic Dome as a Greenhouse

A King Creativity project from last year focused on creating a dome structure that could be used as housing, greenhouses, etc. This year we will be looking into one such application of the dome: using it as a greenhouse. The unique characteristics of the dome allow for enhanced sunlight capture and create an interesting growing environment. In order to maximize growing space inside of the dome, we will be raising the entire structure two feet off of the ground and hanging potted plants throughout the interior. Because different seasons require different temperature conditions for food cultivation, we will attach different coverings on the exterior that aid in either heat absorption or reflection, depending on the time of year. Throughout the entirety of the project, we will be monitoring the temperature/humidity conditions and the weight of the harvest. This project will hopefully demonstrate the viability of this geodesic dome model as an efficient growing medium.
