Family Nurse Practitioner and Health Services Manager

Southwestern University has an IMMEDIATE OPENING for the position of Family Nurse Practitioner and Health Services Manager.  This full-time, 10-month position (normally scheduled for August through May) reports to the Director of the Counseling and Health Center.   The projected start date for this recently vacated position is on or before November 1, 2013.

Primary duties include:  manage the daily Health Services clinic operations; provide direct clinical health care services to students; maintain the relationship with the supervising physician for all applicable clinical practices; oversee the maintenance of student medical records; provide education for self-care and health maintenance; provide consultations for parents and University members within the limits of state and federal confidentiality laws; manage and provide education for use of the health care equipment and supplies; assist the Director to administer the Vivature billing program; assist the Director with other administrative duties;  respond “on-call” to emergency situations as needed; participate in continuing education and remain up-to-date on college health issues; perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements for the position include:  Must have valid Texas BNE License as a Family Nurse Practitioner with two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner; a bachelor of science degree in nursing; licensure as a Registered Nurse with three years experience as a Registered Nurse; CPR certification; excellent nursing assessment skills (background in ambulatory or emergency medicine a plus); excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including outstanding diplomacy skills; the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team; demonstrated eagerness to serve a predominantly young adult student population without regard to sex, race, color, religion, age, disability, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or any other impermissible factor; demonstrated professional manner with all internal and external University constituencies; and, proven ability to perform well in stressful situations.
