Southwestern University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of University Relations – Communications Designer. This position is an entry-level, professional, full-time, 12-month position with benefits.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Work closely with Director of Creative Services to implement the creative vision and direction for University partners; coordinate with Director of Web Development to assist in online design; conceptualize, design, and/or (front end) development of a variety of communications including online, mobile and print; meet with University partners to assist in determining appropriate design direction for specific University communications; develop and drive multiple project timelines simultaneously; assist with communications planning; and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include: a baccalaureate degree in design, interactive media or related field; up to two years of experience in communications, marketing or advertising fields; thorough understanding of design elements and principles; understanding of how to translate elements between digital and print media; fluent in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Dreamweaver (HTML and CSS); a strong work ethic and demonstrated management skills; ability to be flexible, adjust to fluctuating priorities and produce a reliable work product. Responsive design experience a plus.
