Southwestern University has an opening for a Senior Secretary in the Office of the Provost.  This is a full-time, twelve-month position with full benefits.

Primary responsibilities involve receptionist support for the Office of the Provost and clerical support to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA).  Duties include, but are not limited to, answering multiple phone lines and handling calls as appropriate; greeting and referring office visitors; scheduling meetings and coordinating multiple calendars; assisting in the planning, organization, and implementation of projects/events; and responding to faculty, staff, and student inquiries/requests.  The Senior Secretary may also provide support to the Provost and to the Associate Dean of Faculty Development and Academic Assessment, as requested.  This position is supervised by the AVPAA and may take direction from the Program Assistant.

This position requires a self-motivated individual with the ability to manage multiple projects and adjust to fluctuating priorities in a fast-paced office environment.  The successful candidate will be able to maintain strict confidentiality; exercise good judgment; possess meticulous attention to detail; be able to work well with faculty, students, staff, and the public; and demonstrate acceptance of diversity within the campus community.  Additionally, the successful candidate will have strong composition, grammatical, proofreading, and editing skills; a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team; a thorough knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel; excellent telephone etiquette; and superb interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.  A high school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of five years secretarial experience are required.  Experience in a college/university environment is preferred.
