Southwestern University invites applicants for the Civic Engagement Coordinator position. This position’s primary responsibilities include a variety of duties including managing co-curricular service programs; fostering strong connections with community partners; advising student service organizations; conducting leadership development trainings for student leaders in service. This is a full-time, exempt, professional position that reports to the Director of Civic Engagement.

Primary responsibilities include: Maintain, update, and expand information on the University website, sharing information about civic engagement activities with the campus and greater communities; support student’s and student organizations’ civic engagement activities; assist in the collection of hours and documentation of co-curricular and curricular civic engagement activities performed by the student population each semester; deepen and sustain relationships with local organizations to develop and offer mutually beneficial opportunities and assess the implementation and efficacy of such opportunities; assist Paideia Scholars with civic engagement activities connected to the Paideia Program; deepen and sustain relationships with local organizations to develop and offer mutually beneficial opportunities and assess the implementation and efficacy of such opportunities.

Qualifications include: A bachelor’s degree is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience working or volunteering with non-profit organizations; experience working with diverse groups and dynamics, commitment to student development and cultivating social responsibility with regard to civic engagement, ability to coordinate multiple projects at once while managing time and logistics, excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and a desire to work in a collaborative and creative environment.
