Lighting Technician - Physical Plant

Southwestern University is currently accepting applications for a Lighting Technician position which is available for immediate hire.  This is a year-round, full-time position.

Responsibilities include replacing ballasts and other components on campus lighting as required; inspecting exit and emergency lighting and repairing as necessary; assisting electrician on projects; managing the EPA Lamp recycling program; assisting preventative maintenance crew on equipment repair and maintenance; and providing support to other crafts when needed.

Successful applicant will meet the following job requirements: High school diploma or GED; one year of experience troubleshooting and repairing lighting equipment; possess a thorough knowledge of various types of lighting fixtures and components; ability to climb and work at heights above 100 feet; ability to lift and handle up to 50 lbs.; availability for overtime as necessary; ability to work under limited supervision; have a stable work history and ability to provide work-related references; have no felony convictions; possess a valid Texas driver’s license in good standing with the Department of Motor Vehicles and record meets standards of the University’s insurance carrier; ability to provide documents establishing identity and employment eligibility in the United States.  Preferred applicant will possess electrical license and have five plus years of experience in lighting control environment.
