Southwestern University invites applications for the position of Director of University Relations – Gift & Estate Planning. This position serves as the University Relations’ gift specialist and as a major gift officer securing gifts and commitments in order to strengthen the institution for the future.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: identify, cultivate, solicit, and thank donors who give yearly contributions to the University; manage the University’s established giving program, as well as promotion, stewardship and donor recognition events; record and track all planned gifts; supervise Planned Giving department staff and budget; manage estate administration system; conduct prospect screening sessions; issue charitable gift annuities; coordinate committee for gift acquisition; support and participate in University events; support and participate in University events; serve as staff liaison to professional planned giving, legal and financial advisors; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, five years of development or related experience, one year of supervisory experience; working knowledge of planned gift vehicles; excellent written and verbal interaction and communication skills, strong leadership and work ethic; proven supervisory and management skills; the ability to work with others as a member of a team and to direct the work of volunteers and support staff, able to perform well in stressful situations and a respect for the confidential nature of the work.
