Professor Thomas Howe, Professor of Art and Art History and Chair of Art History, and Coordinatore Generale of the Restoring Ancient Stabiae Foundation, and two of his colleagues from recent excavations at the Stabiae ancient Roman villas, presented three coordinated papers on recent excavations at Stabiae.

Dr. Taco Terpstra of the Columbia University team presented the stratigraphic excavations in the Villa San Marco, Dr. Paolo Gardelli spoke about the results of the Hermitage State Museum’s excavation in the bath complex of the Villa Arianna, and Howe delivered an overall review of the significance of the new excavations which have been conducted since 2007.
