Craig Erwin Named New Associate Vice President for Finance
Position serves as the university’s chief budget officer
Craig Erwin has been named associate vice president for finance at Southwestern University. He began work Aug. 27.
Prior to his appointment at Southwestern, Erwin served as controller and then associate vice president for finance and accounting at Bellevue University, a private university in Bellevue, Neb. During his six years at Bellevue, Erwin led the finance and accounting operations through a period of growth, achieving operational efficiencies while maintaining effective regulatory compliance.
Erwin also has held senior finance positions in the healthcare, financial services and telecommunications industries.
Erwin earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from Louisiana Tech and an MBA in finance from Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers.
As the associate vice president for finance, Erwin will serve as Southwestern’s chief budget officer and supervise the university’s professional accountants in financial reporting and internal controls. He will be responsible for preparing the annual operating budget and related reporting and monitoring activities, as well as the annual financial statements and tax returns. Erwin also will be responsible for managing the operations of the Business Office, Post Office and Pirate Card Office.
Erwin has been an active in the community, volunteering his time for the United Way of the Midlands, the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and Food Bank for the Heartland. He also coaches youth soccer, baseball and volleyball.
