On-call Central Plant Operator

Southwestern University has an immediate opening for a temporary on-call Central Plant Operator. This position has no regular assigned work schedule. Operator will work 8 hour day, evening or night shifts when needed. This temporary position is not eligible for benefits.

Successful applicants will meet the following job requirements: Conduct testing of water for cooling towers, swimming pools and fountains. Prepare and maintain records, monitor computerized energy management system; monitor chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and related equipment; perform minor repairs of plumbing and electrical fixtures and appliances; and perform minor carpentry work.

Qualifications:  Must have a high school diploma or GED and a general operating knowledge of mechanical equipment, boilers and air conditioning systems.  Technical skills are required for minor repairs and maintenance of plumbing, heating, and electrical systems.  Must possess good oral and written communication skills and be able to follow oral and written instructions.  Current valid Texas driver’s license is required.
