Andy Ross received the 2012 Southwestern University Teaching Awards.

Ross has been teaching at Southwestern since 2006. He teaches classes in Foundations of Business and Contemporary Issues in Business.

“Professor Ross is an amazing teacher,” said Rachel Nowlain, a student who nominated him for the award. “He not only speaks from experience (from multiple different jobs he had before coming to teach at Southwestern), but he really makes class fun.”

Ross has an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a BA in business administration from Austin College.

The award was created by the Southwestern faculty in 1999 to recognize faculty members who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and comes with a $2,000 prize.

Nominations for the award are submitted by students in the spring semester, and recipients are selected by the Honorary Degrees Committee. Adrian received the award for a tenured faculty member and Ross received the award for a non-tenured faculty member. The awards will be presented at the Sept. 25 faculty meeting.
