Apply for a student scholarship to attend UT Austin School of Social Work’s workshop entitled “Creating Sustainable Family Caregiving Relationships.”

Any student interested in working with older adult populations (not just social work students!) is eligible to apply for this workshop, which will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 from 9-4pm.

10 students will be eligible for this scholarship on a first come, first served basis. Dialogues and group discussions will dominate the all-day workshop, which will introduce participants to learn basic caregiver counseling techniques and other aspects of the family caregiving process.

The workshop will be led by Dr. Barry Jacobs, PsyD. Jacobs, a clinical psychologist, family therapist, and author, specializes in assisting families as they cope with serious chronic and medical illnesses. He is also the national spokesperson for the American Heart Association on the subject of family caregiving.

Interested students must submit the following by April 17:

  1. Completed registration form (ignore payment information section)
  2. Copy of school ID or document verifying enrollment

The documents can be submitted by e-mail (Joyce Hefner at JHefner@familyeldercare.org), fax (512.459.6436) or mail (1700 Rutherford Ln., Austin, TX  78754).
