Alison Marr, assistant professor of mathematics, was one of four invited speakers at the 2 5th Midwest Conference on Combinatorics, Cryptography, and Computing held in Las Vegas Oct. 20-21, 2011. Marr gave a talk titled “The Best Magic (Directed Graph) Show in Vegas!”

The abstract for her talk is below.

This talk will summarize the various types of magic labelings on directed graphs. We will explore magic, magic vertex, in magic, out magic, and edge magic labelings of directed graphs. Connections to conservative graphs and sparse magic squares will be discussed. In addition, many open problems will be given. Some portions of this talk are joint work with Wal Wallis, Gary Bloom, and Sarah Stern.
