Juan Juarez is currently in his first year as a 2011 Teach For America Corps Member in San Antonio, Texas.
Juan graduated from Southwestern University in May of 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies. While at Southwestern, Juan studied in Córdoba, Argentina for six months, was the captain of the Nationally qualifying Mock Trial team at Southwestern, and served on the International Board of the world’s largest service organization, Circle K International. He is currently in his first year as a 2011 Teach For America Corps Member in San Antonio, Texas. Juan is a 5thand 6th grade ESL teacher and the ESL Coordinator at KIPP: Camino Academy in San Antonio teaching high-risk, low-income students. Though only five months into his first year as a Teach For America Corps Member, Juan has shown results in the classroom and has attracted the attention of major national networks such as Telemundo and ABC. He is currently working on a year long project for American journalist and special news correspondent, Katy Couric that will air in the Fall of 2012 on Katy Couric’s new show. Juan is hoping to pursue either a doctorate in educational policy or a law degree in education law after his two years in Teach For America in hopes that he can continue to make difference in education and in the lives of children in the United States.
