Andrea M. Neal
Sponsor: Michael Saenger, Associate Professor of English
“Shakespeare Out of the Box” is the production of an outdoor theatre performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The goal of this project is to demonstrate that theatre does not need to be enclosed in four walls, and also to bring more Shakespeare to Southwestern. It will bring together students of all departments, and will be a collaboration between the theatre and English departments. Performances will be in the spring semester. The technical elements of the production are minimalist, taking a Brectian approach. The modern setting production will also feature 3-piece rock band. “Shakespeare Out of the Box” will be a great performance of a classic that nobody will want to miss out on!
